What can we gain from Spindel?

It is possible to make learning and knowledge mediation visible with Spindeli.

Looking at the visualizations we can, for example:

• see where are the important knots for knowledge mediation;
• valuate communication structures before and after a change in the organisation;
• look at key persons’ positions within the company;
• visualize different relationships and boundaries of different groups; see the relationships and boundaries of different kinds of groups;
• look at the centralization and tightness of the company;
• view how people use different media and how it varies among different users.

Preconditions for the use of Spindel

• Only a short amount of time; easy to gather; quick results;
• high commitment; a high participation percentage is needed for the analysis;
• ethical attitude is needed, confidential knowledge needs to be considered; data collection is based on names but all names are left out from MDS maps, i.e. from the 3D visualisations.

Results are reported in a short and easy to read report, where the main results are explained in words, tables and pictures. At least one 3D-picture is included in the report.
